What is Acousto-optic Modulator?
The acousto-optic modulator (AOM) is a product that works according to the acoustic optical effect and can modulate the frequency, intensity, pulse, and direction of the light beam in the wavelength range from the visible to the infrared region. Frequency ranges from 40-400MHz optional, other frequencies can be customized. Some optical fiber devices can withstand high-power optical inputs up to 5W(customizable) to meet the needs of different application scenarios. The acousto-optic modulator adopts an all-metal structure design, compact and robust packaging structure, and innovative packaging technology to ensure high reliability and temperature stability.
What is Acousto-optic Frequency Shifter?
Acousto-optic frequency shifter (AOFS) is a kind of acousto-optic device that can change the frequency of light. When light is scattered from a diffraction grating created by sound waves, it undergoes a Doppler shift. If light travels through the crystal in the same direction as sound waves, the frequency of the diffracted beam increases. If light and sound waves travel in opposite directions, the frequency of the diffracted beam is reduced. The value of the frequency change depends on the output frequency of the acousto-optic RF driver. Acousto-optic frequency shifters are commonly used in interferon-based optical systems such as optical heterodyne detection, laser Doppler velocity measurement, and laser Doppler vibration measurement.
